A Guide to Hong Kong

Avenue Stars
Hong Kong is friendly to foreigners like me who can understand English.  It has English sign boards that can guide you.

To visit Hong Kong, Filipinos, who are Philippines passport holder, don't need to apply for visa. It is visa free for 14 days.

To choose affordable and smart tour package, it should have the following:
  • hotel accommodations
  • daily breakfast
  • round trip transfers to/from the Hong Kong International Airport
Tips:
  • Wait and avail the promo rates of airfare
    • Departure in Philippines: Choose a morning flight
    • Departure in Hong Kong: Choose an evening flight
  • Attend  travel expo for budget tour package

For preparation, travelers should consider the following:
  • Weather
    • Hong Kong has four seasons: spring, summer, autumn and winter.
    • Bring appropriate clothes for the weather.
    • Bring umbrella.
  •  Electricity & Voltage
    • Outlet has three holes, so it is advisable to buy adaptors. Only one is round.

  • Comfortable boots or rubber shoes for walking and sightseeing
  • Time
    • There is no time difference between Philippines and Hong Kong.
  • Gadgets
    • Fully charged them before departure.
    • Roaming my Globe number didn't work. However, my sister's number, which is Sun, was activated.
    • Camera is a must for travelers.

  • Money
    • Hong Kong Dollar is the currency. For me, it is better to buy it in Philippines. You can buy at black markets.
    • You can bring US Dollars because tour guides and hotels buy foreign currencies.
  • Map
    • There are updated maps in Hong Kong International Airport. Don't forget to grab one.
  • Octopus Card
    • It is very useful in Hong Kong. You can use it to buy goods such as food and other stuff. You can also use it to pay your fare in MTR, bus and shuttle. It is like a debit card, but all-around one.

This post is for the first time travelers to Hong Kong.
